Hixpania 2026: Everything You Need to Know About the Final Round

22 October 2026·5 min read

The 2026 FIM Hard Enduro World Championship ends this weekend at the 24MX Hixpania Hard Enduro in Aguilar de Campoo, Spain. Over three days, 23–25 October, the final round settles the Junior world title and decides whether Manuel Lettenbichler closes out a fifth consecutive championship. Here is what is at stake, how Hixpania works, who is racing and how to follow it live.

What's at stake

Standings before Hixpania. The Junior championship and the World Cups count each rider's best six of eight rounds.
TitleLeaderClosest rivalGap
World ChampionshipManuel Lettenbichler (KTM), 197Mitch Brightmore (GASGAS), 16532
Junior World ChampionshipJames Moore (Beta), 183Ashton Brightmore (GASGAS), 1803
Senior World CupRoberto de Matos, 134Haukur Thorsteinsson, 10529
Women's World CupSandra Gómez, 174Eva Taeuber, 13638
Youth World CupDamon Garrell, 198Kyle Gianotti, 10494

World Championship

A rider can score at most 33 points at a round, so Mitch Brightmore needs the maximum at Hixpania and needs Lettenbichler to score nothing. Any other result makes Lettenbichler world champion for the fifth year in a row.

The fight for third is closer. Teodor Kabakchiev (Sherco) is third on 133 points, with Ashton Brightmore on 123 and James Moore on 120, so 13 points cover third to fifth.

Junior World Championship

The Junior title is the closest of the season. Only each rider's best six rounds count, and Moore's and Ashton Brightmore's lowest counted score so far is 26 for both. A Hixpania result therefore only adds to their total if it beats 26.

That means Ashton Brightmore needs at least 30 points and four more than Moore to take the title. If he falls one point short of either mark, the two can finish level on points, with the tie-break deciding the champion.

World Cups

The three World Cup leaders arrive with big margins. On the current standings, none of Roberto de Matos (Senior), Sandra Gómez (Women's) or Damon Garrell (Youth) can be caught on points. Gómez races on home soil. The titles become official once the final classification is confirmed.

How Hixpania works

Hixpania is three races over three days, and each one scores championship points: up to 3 on Friday, 10 on Saturday and 20 on Sunday, for a maximum of 33. Championship riders race in two classes: Caballeros on the main course, and Hixpanos on a less demanding one.

Friday: SuperEncierro

The weekend opens on Friday evening in Hixpania Village with the SuperEncierro, a short multi-lap “city enduro” for championship riders only. After free practice and timed practice, the Caballeros race two semi-finals of six minutes plus a lap, split by odd and even race numbers. The top seven from each go through to a 14-rider final, and the Hixpanos riders have their own final. The top three in each class score 3, 2 and 1 points.

Saturday: Campoo Xtreme

Saturday's sprint race is held on a 6 km hard enduro lap beside the reservoir. In the morning, riders take a sighting lap and then one timed qualifying lap, starting one at a time in championship order. Their qualifying times set the grid. The race runs for one hour plus a lap, with the top 15 starting from a triangular front row and the rest in rows of 20, released 30 seconds apart. The top ten score 10 points down to 1.

Sunday: The Lost Road

The main race, El Camino Perdido or The Lost Road, runs on a lap of about 4.5 km on the Caracol peninsula. The top ten from Saturday start inside a cave, in diagonal pairs released five seconds apart. The rest of the field lines up in rows of ten behind them.

It is also a knock-out. Seventy riders start, and the last ten are eliminated at the end of each of the first three laps. After two hours, at 14:00, Hixpania Hill opens: a final section in the stadium that only the top ten on the lead lap may enter. Top-ten riders who are a lap down are sent back onto the course to unlap themselves. The Hill closes at 15:00, and anyone who has not reached the finish by then is ranked on laps completed and checkpoints reached. The top 15 score points, with 20 for the winner.

Timetable

Friday and Saturday times are local CEST (UTC+2). Spain's clocks go back an hour at 03:00 on Sunday morning, so Sunday times are CET (UTC+1).
